Seller story
Comfort food when he cooks anyway.
Omar works long hours in finance and cooks to decompress on Sundays — biryani, baked pasta, whatever sounds good. He always had leftovers. Coworkers on his floor joked he should sell plates.
He listed "Sunday biryani — two portions" with three days notice and pickup-only hours after 5 p.m. No delivery, no custom orders. When he's traveling for work, he simply doesn't list anything.
Exam season and cold snaps are his busiest times. Neighbors compare it to skipping the $20 delivery fee on the big apps. A few became regulars: order every other week, same pickup slot, chat in the lobby while the food is still warm.
Omar treats it like splitting groceries, not running a restaurant. When the listing is up, he makes one extra batch. When life gets hectic, the storefront goes quiet and nobody expects otherwise.
“I cook for four portions anyway. If two neighbors buy the other two, my groceries basically pay for themselves.”
